Pitch Poster

This is the design for my pitch poster. I think it is pretty self explanatory in terms of the story. It shows the environment and setting. Both of the characters are featured. The title and positioning/posing of the characters represents the essence of the story.

Character Design: Man

These are my key emotion sketches for the man in my animation. He is a young adult who is hopelessly in love. He is a very shy, awkward character who has an innocent appeal. However, he is a man on a mission and busy trying to write a letter. When something comes between him and his romantic side, he is easily frustrated.

Character Research & Inspiration: Man

My man character is going to be a younger adult. I developed a lot of my character design idea based off of tidbits of Linguini from Ratatouille and a character sketch I found of Edgar from ??? I also referenced Pigeon Impossible again because of the character interaction. The striped shirt is an aspect of the costume I added to once again unite the French style.

Character Design: Pigeon

These are some key pose sketches for the pigeon character in the animation. All around the pigeon is seen as a helpful, loving, playful character that is commonly misunderstood and harshly judged. The pigeon defies all odds in this story and proves the judgements wrong. The characters main actions are gesturing to the man (accompanied by pigeon coos) and flying to snatch/deliver the letter.

Character Research & Inspiration: Pigeon

The pigeon in my animation brings the story to life and adds some comic relief. I wanted to convey a youthful and playful side by the body language and appearance of the pigeon. The animations that I was inspired by for my character were the pigeons from Bolt for their character color scheme as well as the short Pigeon Impossible.

Inspiration & Reference Environment

The area which the animation takes place is inside a man's home office. In relation to the Parisian theme, I am referencing French style furniture to tie it all together. I want the room to look like a "lived in space" with some clutter one might have in their office. I also want to use textures such as brick for some of the walls and hardwood for the floor. The desk is where all of the action happens. I am going to take some elements from these images and incorporate them into a French style desk for the man to write.

Research & Inspiration for Setting

The story is going to take place in a city known for falling in love: Paris, France. I gathered inspiration from other animations that were also set in Paris such as The Aristocats and Ratatouille. The animation will feature a shot (matte painting) of the old city village through an office window, which can be distinguished by the Eiffel Tower.
